here is my '72 Ford Courier. She was an all original 106,000 mile cutie that I paid $400 for. Snagged her up about 2 years ago from the original owner. Put her in my buddies back yard until I could figure out what to do to her. I decided to go for it in Sept. and went to work. I had 2 goals: to build as low budget as possible but still use decent parts and to build a "shop truck" to honor my Gradpa's old tire shop. My buddy John Diener and I went crazy and bagged/4-linked and did up the bed in about 3 weeks. Other than the underside she's still "old man" fresh. We buffed a spot out in the original paint and it came back to life so for this season she's keeping her stock paint other than the bedliner that will be white. The only other changes will be a 70s front air dam, maybe a custom grill, Angel eye headlights, led tails in the stock housings, and possibly a sliding ragtop. I will put the logo of my Grampa's tire shop on the doors. The stock motor still runs strong(slow but strong) so other a k&n filter in the stock air box, a Pertronix ele. ign conversion kit and coil, accel spark plug wires, gm 1-wire 140 amp alt., and straight pipe out where the gas filler was and maybe a 5-speed and some detailing thats all that will happen there. I was lucky and she layed out without having to cut out the fenderwells. Right now she has stock rims baby moon caps and 175/70/14 but I am saving up for some 5.20 coker wide white bias plys(as she came with bias plys I thought why not and I like whitewalls) The interior is stock for now, but I have a new dash pad for my metal dash, and will do custom door panels and redo the seat. I don't know if I will do a rubber mat like stock or carpet her. She'll get a small system with a center console to hold the cd player so I don't have to cut the dash. Oh yeah, the bed.....I didn't want any holes in the bed floor so I was inspired by my buddy Derek's sled deck on his winter ride and decided to lift the bed floor up to the lip around the bed and make it a "flat bed" That was I could haul a couple of beach cruizer bikes on there to shows along with my stuff. All in all to date buying the truck, all the bag parts, the motor parts, misc parts, the stereo, tires and hubcaps, the material for the doors, seats and headliner, and the bedliner kit I am sitting right about $2500 invested.
